Student Orientation

At Rocana Institute of Technology, the Students Affairs department has the responsibility of organizing orientation for their new students. Here, the focus of the orientation is to ensure that new students are assisted to get familiar with their new environment. The task of doing so is usually huge ranging from identifying appropriate resource persons, determining the most appropriate time, arranging venue, mobilizing the students for the program, to assessing the impact of the program on a fresh students.

Multimedia Technology

Multimedia Technology Department is concerned with interactive, computer-based applications that allow people to communicate ideas and information with digital and print elements. The Department applies interactive computer elements such as graphics, text, video, sound and animation to deliver a message. Professionals in the field use computer software to develop and manage online graphics and content. The work that Multimedia Technology Specialists produce is used in various media, such as training programs, web pages and news sites. The Multimedia Department exposes students to learn how to use computer programs to create interactive presentations or materials. Our students are trained to use website development software like Cascading Style Sheet or the Adobe suite, which includes Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator and Dreamweaver. They also learn design techniques and are encouraged to develop their own creative styles and make personal works of digital art. Entry Requirements The entry requirements into National Innovation Diploma in Multimedia Technology include: Students who have completed senior secondary school and obtained 5 credits at NECO or WAEC at not more than two (2) sittings in the following: Mathematics English Any Science subject – Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agric. Science Fine Art/Technical Drawing Any of the Social Sciences – Economics, History, Literature in English, Geography Completion of a relevant Vocational Enterprise programme Graduates of tertiary institutions APPLY Multimedia Technology courses typically includes :

There are many employment opportunities for Multimedia Technology Professionals in a variety of industries. Anything that needs to be communicated to an audience can contain digital and print images, text or animation to attract attention and pass a message across. After successfully completing their program in our institute, our student will have the opportunity to work in a marketing or advertising firm, gain employment in publishing houses and be responsible for managing, designing or producing multimedia contents for websites, newspapers, magazines etc. Other possible career choices include:

Computer Software Engineering

Computer Software Engineering is the application of a systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approach to the design, development, operation and maintenance of software. National Diploma in software engineering is aimed at producing skilled software technicians who should be able to resolve a wide range of problems by the systematic development and evaluation of large, high quality software systems. A student of this Departrnent will study both application software and system software, learn varieties of programming languages including: design, analysis and maintenance of software. Entry Requirements The entry requirements into National Innovation Diploma in Computer Software Engineering programme include any of the following: Five (5) credit level passes in GCE “O” level or Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) at not more than two sittings. The five subjects must include Mathematics Physics Chemistry English Language and Any other subject National Vocational Certificate (NVC, Final) in Computer Studies from an approved Vocational Enterprise Institution (VEI).

Computer Hardware Technology

The computer hardware is a diploma programme that offers students the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in the broad area of digital systems, computer hardware and computer network applications. The knowledge and skills developed by the students will be used to design, analyze implement and test systems that integrates hardware and low-level software. Entry Qualifications The entry requirements into National Innovation Diploma in Multimedia Technology include: • S.S.C.E or its equivalent. Credit passes in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English language and any other one from Metal works, Technical Drawing, Basic Electronics, Biology or Agricultural Science, Geography, and Further Mathematics. • The National Vocational Certificate {NVC} or National Technical Certificate {NTC} with credit passes in the trade modules and five academic subjects relevant to the programme and at least a pass in English language. Printing Technology

The Printing Department of the institute runs a National Vocational Certificate course for the period of three years. The Department has an existing partnership with Rocana Nigeria Limited. Each of these sections is equipped with modern machines that enable the acquisition of modern printing skills for the Printing Students. To gain admission into NVC Printing Programme, candidates are required to have a minimum qualification of three credIts at Junior Secondary School Certificate and above. The printing technology department also runs short courses on printing for the award of a proficiency certificate at the successful end of the programme.

Computer Studies

Computer studies is a National Vocational Certificate program that provides basic training in all aspect of computer education, from hardware design to computer programming. Students in this field of study are exposed to understanding of the computer world enabling them to work in a variety of environments and industries Entry Qualifications To gain admission into NVC Computer Studies programme, candidates are required to have minimum qualification of three credits at Junior Secondary School Certificate and above. Telecommunication Technology

Telecommunication Technology is a dynamic and rapidly developing field as a result of today's heavy reliance on the internet, cell phones, broadband, wireless networks, broadcasting and satellite applications. Telecom engineers design and install equipment used for transmitting wired phone, cellular, cable and broadband data. They work with copper or fiber optic cabling, complex networks and switching systems. Generally, they design, implement and manage systems for processing and transmitting information.
